Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American sportscaster. She is currently an ESPN sportscaster. ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. Since 2016, Collins has was a part of ESPN. She is the daughter of the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami, where she was a producer of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she relocated from Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reports on her show covered immigration issues, drug trafficking, and others on the Texas and Mexico border. She was also a Spanish reporter at the newscast from 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter on the newscast from 9 p.m. in English as well as a Spanish reporter from 10 p.m. In addition, she was used on occasion as a weather and sports anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she has more responsibility. She did pieces on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23's local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she served as anchor. She also served as anchor for the sports segment of Despierta America Deportes morning show. As a sports anchor, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' grandparents were born in Veracruz Mexico. The family moved towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. She has a sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, naval engineer, who passed away in the year 2006 from kidney cancer. While on a vacation Antonietta spent the time at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered a new job. Antonietta was the senior of her high school and had a very clear vision of her career goals. She went to Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. It was a beautiful campus and offered the degree she wanted. When she finished high school, she made the decision to go to the university and major in media studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a member. He encouraged her to believe in herself and his enthusiasm in journalism was a huge influence on her, and she in turn, strived to meet the expectations of him and not failed him.
